Ladybird, 7 spot - Coccinella septempunctata

A very common insect, know to all, the 7 spot is paerhaps one of the most common, but the other varieties are often seen as well.

Although it can be seen at all times of year, they hibernate in odd places during the winter, often in houses.

Very much the gardeners friend as they are carnivourous, feeding mostly on greenfly.
